About Us
History of the Granite State’s involvement in ASSE:
Circa 1977 – Northern New England Section of the Greater Boston Chapter formed. This section included Maine and New Hampshire.
1991-95 – Maine split from the Northern New England Section to form its own chapter and the Granite State Section was formed, still as part of the Greater Boston Chapter.
2001 – The Granite State Section split from the Greater Boston Chapter to become chartered by national as its own chapter, the Granite State Chapter. The Granite State Chapter includes one student section, the Keene State College Student Section.

Chapter Goals - Chapter Year 2004-2005
Improved Communication with Membership
- "Granite Stater" issued 6 times as a fully functional electronic publication.
- Creation of a dedicated Granite State Chapter website
- Purchase / register web address
- Decision on use of ASSE Headquarters as website host
- Identify and appoint a new Chairman for Membership Services as a Executive Board member
- Develop, implement and improve membership information updates and communication vehicles:
- Keep membership roster current - responsibility of Membership Services Chair through ASSE National
- Broaden solicitation of article submissions by membership to "Granite Stater"
- Consistent monthly usage of e-mails, post cards, etc. to disseminate upcoming tech meetings, events, etc..
Involvement & Recognition:
Chapter, Headquarters, Other NE Chapters, at PDCs & Expos
- Send Executive Board member to Annual Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL - October.
- Chapter Executive Board to meet 8 times
- Use teleconferencing as a tool; not more than 50% of meetings may be teleconference.
- Each Executive Board member to attend minimum of 75% of meetings
- ASSE Granite State Chapter Booth, including all banners, etc., at:
- Safety & Health Council of Northern New England Conference & Expo - April
- ASSE Region VIII PDC & Expo - November / December
- Identify & submit petition for Chapter Safety Professional of the Year - December.
- Recognize Chapter members / retirees for outstanding contribution to the Chapter at annual SHCNNE Conference & Expo - April.
- Submit petition nominations to Headquarters for Society elected offices - December 15 th .
- Submit Society election ballots to ASSE Headquarters - April 1 st
- Submit year's annual financial report to Area Director & ASSE Headquarters - May 31 st
- Submit Chapter Officer & Delegate Report Form to ASSE Headquarters - May 31 st .
- Submit key Chapter milestones / recognition / photos to Jill Burgos at ASSE Headquarters for inclusion in ASSE National's newsletter "UpFront".
- Minimum of 2 submissions
Increase Interaction with Student Section at Keene State College (KSC)
- Tech Meeting & Career Panel at KSC - October.
- Subsidize student attendance & participation in Student Leadership Development Conference - November.
- Student Executive Board member attendance at 3 Chapter Executive Board meetings
- Link KSC student section website to Chapter website.
- Continue development of Chapter / Student Chapter Mentorship Program.
- Goal - 5 student mentorships in 2004-05
- Increase student mentorships by 20% per year
- Award 2 scholarships (minimum $500.00 each) to deserving KSC enrolled in Safety Studies
Technical Meetings
- 6 technical meetings per calendar year
- Seek Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for technical meetings
- Chapter President and ASSE member as dedicated resources towards qualification.
- Responsibility - Member Services Committee Chairman
- Conduct technical meetings throughout New Hampshire
- Minimum of 1 technical meeting on Seacoast
- Minimum of 1 technical meeting in western side of State
Alliance & Working Agreement with Concord Area OSHA Office
- Establish an alliance contact at Concord Area Office and follow-up on 2003-04 "draft" Agreement
- Chapter Past President and ASSE member as dedicated resources towards qualification.
- Identify and appoint a new Chairman for OSHA Alliance as a Executive Board member
Chapter Stars Recognition Award
- Establish a STARS Committee & Chair whose focus is achieving this award
- Establish milestones for each STARS action item
- Meet the minimum requirements for submission of STARS petition
- Complete STARS submission by August 15 th of the calendar year to Area Director

Establish a Program for Receiving Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for Technical Meetings

Establish an Alliance and Working Agreement between Granite State Chapter and Concord OSHA Office
