Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (6-18-08)

Company: Leading, multi-$billion national manufacturer of commercial equipment for a broad range of industrial uses.
Reports to: Vice President of Operations
Location: Rochester, NY

Responsibilities: This EH&S generalist position will be responsible for the environmental, health, and safety functions for the Rochester facility with dotted line assistance for 4 other locations. Will identify and assess occupational safety, health, and environmental risks that affecting employees. Recommends corrective action to mitigate risk and accident occurrence. Will design and implement the annual safety plan, promote a culture of safety, and develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6-8 years experience as an EH&S generalist in manufacturing. Master’s degree preferred. Must have a proven background in leading improvements with high employee participation and recognition.

Safety Specialist (4-17-08)

Employer: Parsons; Jamaica, NY

Serves as a Regional Security & Safety Engineer (RSSE) supporting the TSSC-III program based out of Jamaica, New York. A background check by federal authorities will be performed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of experience in the following:

Responsible for implementing and monitoring safety and security programs and policies, including compliance with government health, safety, environmental, and security regulations
Responsible for all administrative tasks related to implementation of the Program safety plan and corporate reporting requirements
Perform site safety audits for compliance with the program/company safety requirements.
Audit the job accident records and prepare audit reports of these records. Respond to emergencies, investigates accidents, and recommend corrective action.
Initiate and conduct accident investigations and prepare job accident reports.
Coordinate and implement safety training. Conduct employee training in areas such as construction safety, emergency response, life safety, industrial hygiene, and other areas as required.
Represent management during safety inspections of the job site by regulatory authorities or company insurance carriers.
Receive, reviews and distributes safety inspection reports with recommended corrective actions.
Review EMR(s), OSHA Log(s) and Safety Information as part of the subcontractor pre-qualification process.
Review and approve Subcontractor Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) to insure that they strictly adhere to both Parsons? Policy and OSHA Regulations.
Assist with office tasks related to construction and management of projects as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Engineering, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
2-5 years of related work experience in the fields of Construction Health and Safety.
Requires a working knowledge of Federal and state health and safety regulations and reporting procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer literate and proficient in the use of standard office software.
The position requires a security background check by the Federal Aviation Administration. 60%-70%Travel. Limited overtime required.

Environmental Program Manager (2-25-08)

Velcro USA Inc., the leading manufacturer of hook and loop fastening systems, is currently seeking an Environmental Program Manager in their EHS department. The Environmental Program Manager will administer the environmental management system and environmental compliance programs of the Velcro USA Inc. facilities to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, local, state and federal and other requirements.

Daily functions include ensuing that the Environmental Management System requirements are established, implemented, and maintenance in accordance with ISO 14001. The Environmental Program Manager will also monitor pollution prevention activities, and tracking pollutant discharges from all media. Reviewing and analyzing environmental documentation issued by agencies to determine impact on company operations and propose strategies to maintain compliance. Generate permit applications for air emissions, wastewater, and hazardous wastes. Develop and coordinate waste reduction opportunities with a focus on cost reduction. Develop training programs creating general awareness, environmental management system and program specific training as needed.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a BS degree in Environmental Engineering or related area of study. Five (5) years experience in environmental systems management. Must be proficient in understanding measuring tools in monitoring pollution and tracking pollutant discharges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have an understanding of local, state and federal requirements in compliance with ISO 14001.

EHS Compliance Coordinator (2-8-08)

Essential Responsibilities:

Establish, maintain and update the written EHS documentation, i.e. EHS policies instructions, procedures, and guidelines. Keep up the changes of applicable EHS laws and regulations to ensure the company is in compliance.
Provide the EHS education and training to employees of the company.
Look after the employees’ health and safety in the work place. Monitor the health and safety conditions in the work environment.
Conduct the safety committee meeting and the work– related health/safety training. Provide the first aid and emergency responses, prevent the work related injuries.
Handle the storage, disposal and recycle of the hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Perform periodic facility compliance inspection.
Manage all EHS related projects and activities. · Maintain the EHS record keeping up-to-date.

Education and Experience Required: The individual must have a good understanding of the environmental, health and safety (EHS) laws and regulations. Also the individual must have knowledge of EHS compliance and at least 2 years of experience in the similar field. A bachelor degree or equivalent is required. The individual must have strong communication skills and the capability of delivery regulatory requirements to all levels of management and employees. In order to be successful, the individual needs to be self-motivated and be a self- starter.

The Eastern Division stretches from Chicago to Maine and down the east coast. The Division Safety Manager is a vital part of the 5 person division leadership team and will play a direct part in shaping the company’s future. The Eastern Division is considered one of the top districts for our client and has a strong safety history. Potential candidates must have the ability to communicate with workers at all levels of the organization from leading tool box meetings to giving quarterly reports to the Vice President. This position will be responsible for setting the safety standards for the division and ensuring that all corporate safety directives are being met and exceeded. The amount of direct reports varies with the amount of active projects but should be expected to range from 20-30 at any given time. Our client is a leader in their industry when it comes to safety compliance and always looking for fresh, new ideas to improve the safety process. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in construction, refinery, chemical, energy or heavy manufacturing industries. The salary range for this position is $80K-$140K plus a solid benefits package and relocation is available.
