Responsibilities: This EH&S generalist position will be responsible for the environmental, health, and safety functions for the Rochester facility with dotted line assistance for 4 other locations. Will design and implement the annual safety plan, promote a culture of safety, and develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees. Environmental Program Manager (2-25-08)

Velcro USA Inc., the leading manufacturer of hook and loop fastening systems, is currently seeking an Environmental Program Manager in their EHS department. The Environmental Program Manager will administer the environmental management system and environmental compliance programs of the Velcro USA Inc. facilities to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, local, state and federal and other requirements.

Daily functions include ensuing that the Environmental Management System requirements are established, implemented, and maintenance in accordance with ISO 14001. The Environmental Program Manager will also monitor pollution prevention activities, and tracking pollutant discharges from all media. Reviewing and analyzing environmental documentation issued by agencies to determine impact on company operations and propose strategies to maintain compliance. Generate permit applications for air emissions, wastewater, and hazardous wastes. Develop and coordinate waste reduction opportunities with a focus on cost reduction. Conduct periodic facility inspections and audits to track progress of environmental awareness and compliance. Develop training programs creating general awareness, environmental management system and program specific training as needed.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a BS degree in Environmental Engineering or related area of study. Five (5) years experience in environmental systems management. Must be proficient in understanding measuring tools in monitoring pollution and tracking pollutant discharges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have an understanding of local, state and federal requirements in compliance with ISO 14001.

Northern New Jersey—Our client, a large civil construction company, is looking for a bright, energetic safety professional with great communication skills to take over the role of Division Safety Manager for their Eastern Division. The Eastern Division stretches from Chicago to Maine and down the east coast. The Division Safety Manager is a vital part of the 5 person division leadership team and will play a direct part in shaping the company’s future. The Eastern Division is considered one of the top districts for our client and has a strong safety history. Potential candidates must have the ability to communicate with workers at all levels of the organization from leading tool box meetings to giving quarterly reports to the Vice President. This position will be responsible for setting the safety standards for the division and ensuring that all corporate safety directives are being met and exceeded. The amount of direct reports varies with the amount of active projects but should be expected to range from 20-30 at any given time. Our client is a leader in their industry when it comes to safety compliance and always looking for fresh, new ideas to improve the safety process. The person in this position will be expected to not only maintain the strong program that already exists but expand the program and constantly look for ways to improve the employee’s overall health and safety.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in construction, refinery, chemical, energy or heavy manufacturing industries. A degree and certifications are not required but are preferred. You must have prior supervisory experience and demonstrate your ability to lead and develop a safety initiative. The salary range for this position is $80K-$140K plus a solid benefits package and relocation is available.
